Gail Barker
As a child, I travelled around Australia, from Air Force base to Air Force base and from one school to another. My seemingly endless supply of blank drawing paper, pens and pencils served as my tools for communication and sometimes earned pocket money through student commissions. I studied Matriculation Art and Art History in high school and attended night school and weekend courses. This artistic journey continued in college and later online with artists such as Jean Haines and Gabbie Kitchener.
In 2006, I moved to Denmark and began exhibiting my art. I work primarily in acrylics and watercolours.
In watercolour, I love painting animals, capturing their expressions and movement. The medium allows for beautiful fusions of colour and light. My acrylics range from quirky street and beach scenes in Denmark, and outback scenes, to more abstract works. I love colour, line and a sense of movement. My work aims to bring a smile to its audience.
My paintings are part of private collections in Western Australia and on the eastern coast of Australia, as well as overseas in Europe and the United States.
